ok so my question is if anyone has this phone its a slider phone and when I'm getting a beep the person that I'm speaking to can here what mobilespeak is saying. So should I just leave the phone closed and talk that way or do I need to change a setting or something? Thanks so much I really love this phone.

hey I have the duo, and I too love it. I'm not sure, but i think there is a setting so that people can't hear what mobile speak says.

kelly, here are the configurations which I can suggest you.

1. go to mobilespeak configuration by hitting edit key plus right soft key or in another word, key2.

2. select the profile which is active and give ok. and now it will give you 2 options such as, activate and customise. give customise.

3. arrow up and down and configure whatever as per your convenience and then arrow right for another few tabs as well. finish all your configurations.

4. if you feel that mobilespeak is interepting yur conversation, give off to "silence on call".

5. after configuring everything, hit key2 or right soft key for come back one step.

6. give ok. and then select activate and give ok again.

7. that's all, you're done.

Hope this could help you.

Hi Kelly, and all:
I fixed this problem by going to the control pannel, and going to the phone and audio settings. There is a check box to mute mobile speak during a call, just make sure it is set to not speak during calls. You can also choose to have MSS not speak while dialing. I've had the pantech duo for about five days now, and I love it! Message me if you want details on my experience. Hope this helps.

Raaj, please pardon this question but are your instructions for symbian or windows smartphone addition? I have msp for symbian and what you describe sounds like that. I think it's a bit different for the smartphone addition. Now, the other reason for my asking this is have you upgraded to the latest release and have you found anyway to install the symbian msp unassisted? This can be done with the windows additions but to my knowledge not yet with symbian unless there is some secret way I havn't figured out yet? thanks.

Sorry friends, I think I'm confused with the instalations of your window mobiles. actually, i got n70 and the procedures which i described earlier was for symbium phones. and, as per the installation part, I do that by myself. since I got mobilespeak and talks both installed, I'll make the use of talks while installing mobilespeak and will make use of mobilespeak, while installing talks. hehehehe. this is the way i install with out assistance, you see.

clever Raaj, what a way to beat the system, stick it to the man, if you will.
Well, installing the smart phone is much different, sounds to me like less of a hastle than on the n70, but that's just me. I did it with no sight assistance, don't know how, but I did, hehe. The only complaint after a week of usage is that every time I send a text message, or finish using the phone for whatever reason, after closing it, the dang thing continues talking to me many seconds after I've put it in my pocket. This is quite annoying in public, or in situations where I don't want to attract too much attention, which for a blind person, is pretty much all the time. So if any of you have any solutions for that, then I'm set. Otherwise, I'll just keep my mouth shut, better to complain about a phone that talks to much, then a phone that doesn't speak at all, thankfully that's in the past.

Ooh, I've come across another question. What is the best way to access email using this phone? I have yet to set mine up, and haven't found anything easily possible. Your thoughts? . . .

well just to give you people an update I switched to the blackjack2 I like it much better it is so much easyer to text and I didn't have to change any of the settings so that people couldn't here my calls. Plus its cheaper 200 with a 100 rebate. its a very very blind friendly phone.
